A Show, Some Magic and a Souvenir

I started with a short show to gather everyone together and warm the room up. I explained what tarot actually is and that it is not about predicting the future. Then I got everyone on board with the idea that the cards are really just a way into a proper conversation. Once people understand that, they relax and the readings go somewhere much more interesting.

I did a little bit of magic as well, the kind where I read minds and influence what people do. That added a layer of mystery to the evening and gave people something impossible to react to. I also made sure the bride went home with an amazing souvenir. On a hen party you are there to make a fuss of one person while making sure everybody else is having the time of their lives. The magic helps with both.

One on One Readings

Then I moved into one of the rooms and started doing one on one tarot readings for everyone at the event. The group were so engaging and genuinely interested in the cards. Quite a few of them had sat for readings before and really enjoyed it. For a handful this was their very first time. Giving somebody their first tarot reading is always a privilege. You can see the moment the curiosity turns into something real. It never gets old.

I worked through the readings one after another while the party carried on around us, which is my favourite way to do a hen party. People drift in and out, somebody gets dragged over by a friend and the next thing you know they are sitting down telling you things they had not planned to say.

The Card of the Night: Judgement

If one card summed up the evening it was Judgement. It came up more than any other across the readings, especially in the first half of the night.

Judgement is about stopping for a moment and looking back over your life to see how much you have grown and how much you have changed. It asks you to give yourself credit for what you have come through and what you have built. It is also about checking that you are still on the right path. Sometimes we drift. We go with the flow and get caught up in the river of life, staying in the same lane because it is comfortable. Maybe you stayed in a career because you kept getting promoted and people liked you and it made sense at the time.

That is what Judgement asks you to look at. Is this actually what you want to do? Maybe it is. Maybe it is not. The card simply asks you to take that moment and look honestly at your life and decide where you want it to go next.

It is a card that tends to turn up when somebody is standing at a crossroads. It clearly had plenty to say to this group. There were a lot of women in that room thinking about what the next chapter looks like.

Killarney

Killarney is a beautiful part of the country and The Gleneagle Apartments were lovely. I had a great time with this group from start to finish. Hen parties are some of my favourite bookings because everybody arrives with the same intention, which is to make a fuss of the bride and have a proper laugh together. Tarot gives them a way to do both at once. Judgement gave them something to think about on the drive home.
